The ETIAS application will be valid for three years from the date it is granted. The ETIAS holder maytravel inside the Schengen zone for a total of 90 days within a 180-day period during those threeyears, providing the registered passport remains valid during that time. A fresh ETIAS applicationmust be submitted whenever a passport expires, or if a new passport is issued to the ETIAS holderfor any reason. It is impossible for a passport be transferred from one ETIAS to another.

The ETIAS application will be available on the internet. Filling in the required details will only take afew minutes–the application will time out after 20 minutes. Once the application issubmitted, thedatawill be processed, analysed and cross-checked against multiple existing databases to ensure theapplicant is not a security threat and that the information given is accurate. Most applications areapproved within minutes.

Since Brexit,the UK isno longer part of the EU and thereforewill require ETIAS to travel to theSchengen region.The UK nowfallsinto the category of other ETIAS eligible countries, which are notpart of the EU but do not require a Schengen visa in order to enter the Schengen zone. Thesecountries include Canada, Australia, the USA and now the UK.
